Board Care
Board Care for Your Cutting Boards and Charcuterie Boards.
Clean
To keep your cutting board in top-notch condition, thoroughly clean it using lukewarm water and a minimal amount of mild soap. After washing, allow the board to air dry completely. It's crucial to avoid placing it in the dishwasher or submerging it in water, as prolonged exposure to moisture can cause damage to the board.
Sand
If a cutting board has accumulated too many deep scratches, it can be restored to a smooth surface by sanding. Our boards are meticulously sanded to perfection using 120-400-grit sandpaper, resulting in an incredibly smooth finish. This ensures that your cutting board not only looks great but also provides an optimal surface for all your culinary needs.
Oil And Wax
After sanding, apply a thin layer of our Board Butter (available in our online store) or any suitable cutting board oil. We recommend using our Board Butter for our products. It contains several different oils and beeswax. Be sure to apply a minimal amount and rub into grain of the board. Let it sit about 30 minutes and then buff to a shine. It is normal for the board to seep oil for a few days after conditioning.
Dry
After the wood finish has dried, wipe away any remaining residue. Your cutting board is now ready for use! To ensure long-lasting durability, follow these maintenance steps regularly. It's recommended to condition your board with our Board Butter after every six to eight uses to maintain its quality and extend its lifespan.
Storage
It is highly recommended to store your culinary board upright. This upright position allows air to reach both sides of the board, ensuring it dries evenly. If you lay it flat, the lack of airflow can cause uneven drying, which may warp your product. Proper storage is essential for maintaining the quality and longevity of your culinary board!
